Muffy Grant, Senior Director of Development
Muffy Grant drives strategic vision and collaborative leadership to design and implement Child Care Aware® of America’s fund development program. She ensures the organization meets philanthropic and public revenue goals while building sustainable, reliable funding streams to support its mission and operations.
She brings extensive experience in early childhood advocacy, policy, and development. Her work focuses on building equitable, accessible systems that support children, families, and communities. As Executive Director of the North Carolina Early Childhood Foundation, Muffy advanced the Pathways to Grade-Level Reading initiative, featured in the North Carolina Medical Journal for its innovative cross-sector impact which advised the governor’s Early Childhood Action Plan. She also co-created the Care and Learning (CandL) Initiative, championing affordable, responsive child care in North Carolina. During COVID-19, she helped policymakers prioritize early learning needs and collaborated with business leaders to position child care as an economic driver, presenting at state and national convenings.
Previously, Muffy worked in public-private partnership with the U.S. Department of State on reciprocal exchange programs and international aid and development, deepening her belief that diplomacy begins with supporting young children and their families.
She holds a bachelor’s degree from St. Mary’s College, Notre Dame, a master’s degree from Georgetown University, and a Certificate in Nonprofit Management from Duke University. Muffy is dedicated to creating systems and policies that empower educators, strengthen families, and help children thrive.
